INterim Meeting

INitiate 2025

Houston, Tx. - February 15-17

The Interim Meeting brings together leaders at all levels in pharmacy education to explore and address the most pressing challenges facing the academy. Through expert presentations, facilitated discussions, and peer-to-peer dialogue, attendees gain insights and strategies to navigate complex issues and lead with impact in a rapidly evolving educational landscape. 

Insightful speakers, dynamic microsessions and enlightening peer discussions will invigorate current and future leaders during three days of collaboration and hands-on learning. Attendees will return to their schools with new strategies to lead and manage change.

Professional Development

There are several professional development events that AACP offers to members throughout the year.  They occur in a variety of formats such as in-person or virtual and are in institute or workshop formats.

  • Aspiring Academics: Longitudinal Program for Pharmacy Students - August 2024, Hybrid program begins August 2024 thru July 2025
    • Inform and inspire students from diverse backgrounds who are interested in pursuing an academic pharmacy career. 
  • Institute for Inclusive Excellence 2025 - May 7-9, 2025
    • The program is designed to support colleges/schools, faculty, administrators and others that are involved in the education of healthcare professionals with their efforts related to leveraging differences in thoughts, backgrounds, perspectives and experiences, while fostering and serving inclusive communities. 
  • Mid-Career Recharge Cohort 3 - June 2025 thru June 2026
    • Develop a plan to thrive in the next stage of your career and leave feeling rejuvenated, refocused, and recharged.
  • Admissions Workshop - July 18-19, 2025  
    • Provide attendees with the opportunity to learn and network, so the academy can collectively promote the profession and respond to challenges facing pharmacy education admissions, retention, and student affairs.    
  • Teachers' Seminar - July 19, 2025 
    • The Teachers' Seminar is designed to provide pharmacy faculty with targeted professional development to enhance their teaching effectiveness. Each year, the seminar focuses on a timely theme that addresses current challenges and emerging topics in higher education, offering practical strategies and innovative approaches to support faculty success in the classroom. 
  • AFO SIG Program - July 19, 2025 
    • This program, developed by and for Administrative and Financial Officers (AFO) Special Interest Group members, offers a focused forum for attendees to explore emerging trends, share best practices, and address shared challenges in higher education administration and finance.
  • DiPiro Workshop - July 19, 2025 
    • Half-day workshop which provides participants the opportunity to explore different types of SoTL research questions, study designs, and effective strategies for preparing data for publication and presentation. 
  • SURGE Program - Ongoing quarterly 
    • Quarterly virtual meetings for Associate Deans of Research and Grad Ed, Program Directors, and other leaders to discuss issues, challenges and opportunities. In-person meeting at Interim Meeting 2026.
  • Aspiring Academics - August 2025 Kick-off 
    • Inform and inspire students from diverse backgrounds who are interested in pursuing an academic pharmacy career. 
  • Pharm4Me Student Ambassador Training - April 2026 Kick-off 
    • Enhance the promotion of the pharmacy profession to prospective students through the engagement of current pharmacy (i.e., PharmD) and pharmaceutical science (i.e., master’s, PhD) students. 
  • ALFP - September 8-12, 2025, November 2-6, 2025, February 13-17, 2026, July 18-21, 2026 
    • Develop and support leaders in the Academy that contribute to the advancement of pharmacy education, higher education, and the pharmacy profession. 
       
  • Advancing Community Pharmacy Institute: Unifying Academia and Practice for Impact - October 29-31, 2025 
    • This 2-and-a-half-day institute will explore the evolving perceptions of community pharmacy and highlight strategies for advocacy, and collaboration across academic and practice settings. Participants will gain tools to support and advance community pharmacy’s scope of practice, and educational integration through coordinated efforts with faculty, learners, and professional partners. 
  • Medical Billing Workshop - January 22, 2026 
    • The How to Teach Medical Billing Basics: A Hands-On Workshop will prepare pharmacy educators to teach the basics of medical billing to pharmacy students as part of the PharmD curriculum.
  • Community Pharmacy Transformation Badge (Educators Badge) Program - Ongoing 
    • This program aims to provide a fun, contemporary way to connect community pharmacy practice leaders and educators, ultimately leading to recognition of educators with proven competencies in community-based pharmacy practice transformation. 
  • CLEAR Leadership Certificate - Ongoing 
    • Certificate for excellence in academic pharmacy.  
  • Educator & Preceptor Certificate: Choose Your Own Adventure:  A Reflective Journey in Personal and Professional Development- Ongoing
    •  This program focuses on assisting participants in exploring elements of their continuing professional and personal development--seeking first to develop the individual, then allowing this progress to influence learners, team members, and communities. The program is comprised of four sections:  Introduction to the Curriculum (learning about hiking), Approaches to Development (learning how to hike), Opportunities for Development (taking guided hikes), and Application (evaluating your hikes and preparing for future hikes). 
  • SOTL Certificate: Soaring into SoTL: Learning the Basics of Engaging in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning - Ongoing 
    • Learning the Basics of Engaging in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning is a self-paced certificate program designed to provide participants with the basic skills essential to conducting high-quality scholarship in the realm of teaching and learning. It is aimed at individuals who consider themselves complete novices or who may need additional guidance in designing, conducting, and analyzing data within a SoTL research study. 
  • EngageRx Microcredential - NOW AVAILABLE  
    • Microcredential to enhance active learning techniques in pharmacy education. 
  • Microlearning Series - Ongoing 
    • Brief microlearning videos about a variety of topics of interest in academic pharmacy. 
  • Webinars - Ongoing 
    • Variety of educational webinars on topics of interest in academic pharmacy. 
  • Pharmacy Foundations:  A Non-Pharmacist's Guide to Pharmacy Education - COMING SOON
    • This is a comprehensive curriculum designed for faculty, staff, and administrators working in a College/School of Pharmacy who have not been trained as pharmacists. The curriculum provides an essential overview of the profession, including fundamentals of pharmacy education, accreditation considerations, and support structures for pharmacy students and programs.

AACP also offers a Continuing Education (CE) Webinar Series to assist faculty members in ensuring that pharmacy school graduates are prepared for the needs of patients and their caregivers in the current and future healthcare landscape. Previously recorded CE webinars are available to earn CPE Credit.
